Raclette
Melt, Scrape, Repeat.
If you've never experienced Raclette, you're in for a treat. This centuries-old Alpine tradition is built around a beautifully simple idea: melt a generous portion of cheese until it's bubbling and golden, then scrape it over potatoes, charcuterie, vegetables, and whatever else looks delicious.
Part meal, part ritual, Raclette is wonderfully interactive and made for sharing. Keep things casual
with a tabletop grill, where everyone can melt their own cheese and build their perfect plate.
Or, for something a bit more theatrical, rent one of our traditional Raclette machines, designed to melt a quarter or half wheel at a time so you can scrape generous ribbons of bubbling cheese right onto
your guests' plates. Either way, it's an easy, memorable way to entertain, with less time in the kitchen and more time around the table.
At Surdyk's Cheese Shop, we have everything you need to bring this Alpine experience home, from traditional Raclette cheeses and delicious accompaniments to tabletop grills and rental equipment.
The right cheese makes all the difference. Our selection includes traditional French
and Swiss-style Raclette, along with other exceptional melting cheeses to explore.

Tabletop Raclette Grills
An Interactive, Make-Your-Own Experience
Tabletop Raclette grills let everyone get in on the fun. Each guest places a slice of Raclette cheese into a small individual pan, which sits above or below a heating element until the cheese is bubbling and melted. Simply slide the cheese onto your plate of potatoes, meats, or vegetables and enjoy! Many grills also feature a cooking surface on top, perfect for warming vegetables, grilling meats, or crisping potatoes while the cheese melts below. They're easy to use, fun for groups, and ideal for a relaxed evening where everyone can build their own perfect plate. Small, tealight powered Raclette Grills won't set you back much, and are a great way to try out Raclette.

Traditional Raclette Machines
The Full Alpine Experience
For maximum effect, go big! Traditional Raclette machines hold a quarter or half wheel of cheese beneath a heating element, melting the exposed surface until it's golden, bubbling, and irresistible.
Once the cheese is perfectly melted, tilt or move the wheel away from the heat and use a knife to scrape a generous layer of molten cheese directly onto a waiting plate. Return the wheel to the heat and repeat.
It's a wonderfully theatrical way to serve Raclette, especially for larger gatherings. One person can tend the machine while guests line up with plates of warm potatoes, charcuterie, and other accompaniments.
